Towards healthy, resilient and sustainable architecture

We are happy to announce the 10th VELUX Daylight Symposium, which will take place on 18 September 2025 at Fængslet in Horsens, Denmark.

This year’s theme, “Towards Healthy, Resilient, and Sustainable Architecture,” invites researchers and industry professionals to explore the transformative power of daylight.

Imagine a world where daylight is not just a source of illumination but a beacon of health and well-being. We will delve into how natural light can heal and restore, shaping our environments and our lives. We will discuss the future of daylight legislation, envisioning policies that will guide us towards brighter, healthier living environments. Our journey will reveal how daylight can breathe new life into urban landscapes. We will explore the balance between health and sustainability, creating spaces that nurture both people and the planet. We will also focus on resilient design, offering safe and healthy havens for generations to come.

This symposium will be part of the VELUX Build for Life days, a series of events dedicated to innovation and sustainable development.

Join us as we weave together scientific knowledge and practical applications, bridging disciplines and sparking new ideas. We look forward to your participation and contributions in this enlightening journey.

Venue – Fængslet in Horsens

In the heart of Horsens stands FÆNGSLET, which means "The prison" in Danish. This place, where history whispers through the walls, was once a fortress of confinement, Now, it embraces light and creativity. Sunbeams dance through iron bars, casting shadows that tell tales of the past. Here, the echoes of footsteps from bygone eras mingle with the vibrant hum of modern events. Fængslet transforms, from a symbol of solitude to a beacon of inspiration, where every corner holds a story, and every gathering ignites a spark of innovation.
