We published the Living Places Book – sharing our learnings for more sustainable and healthy buildings
While the site is now closed, we are excited about what lies ahead. Scaling projects are already underway internationally; including the first prototype outside Denmark recently launched in the Netherlands, and SOS Children’s Villages is set to bring Children’s Living Places to Ukraine.
What began as an ambitious experiment has blossomed into a movement that is driving the conversation on how we can build homes that are better for both people and planet.
So much has been learned and achieved in this chapter of the Living Places journey, and this is just the beginning!
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has contributed and been part of this truly collaborative process, and special thanks to our partners - EFFEKT architects, Artelia Engineers and Enemærke & Petersen A/S for their inspiring and innovative spirit. We couldn’t have done it without you:

About Living Places Living
Living Places Living brings the experiment full circle, demonstrating the impact of the Living Places concept through the human experience of healthy homes. A range of guests, including industry professionals, journalists and influencers were invited to move into the homes and broadcast their stay to help us find out what it’s really like to live in homes with an ultra-low carbon footprint and a first-class indoor climate.
About Living Places Copenhagen
In April 2023 the VELUX Group, EFFEKT, Artelia, and Enemærke & Petersen opened the doors to Living Places Copenhagen in the Railway District in Copenhagen. It is the first prototype of the overall Living Places concept, and the vision is to lead the way in the building industry and show how rethinking buildings can help solve some of the global climate and health challenges. The groundbreaking project demonstrates that it is possible to build homes with a CO2 footprint that is 2/3 lower per m2/year than the Danish standard while ensuring a first-class indoor climate.
