VELUX has entered an official partnership with the Ciudad de Barcelona as UNESCO World Capital of Architecture 2026, joining a network of partners and sponsors supporting a year-long programme of events, exhibitions and exchanges across the city.
The World Capital of Architecture aims to bring architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture closer to everyone, highlighting their capacity to transform how we live together. Health for people and planet is key to us in VELUX, and the way we build today has an enormous impact on people and the ecosystems that sustain us. We believe in taking action through pioneering experiments and innovating in multidisciplinary teams to reconnect people and planet through healthier, more sustainable and affordable buildings.
“The way we build today has an enormous impact on people and the ecosystems that sustain us. By partnering with Barcelona 2026, we want to help accelerate healthier, more sustainable and affordable buildings through collaboration, experimentation and real-world action,”
said Lone Feifer, Director of Sustainable Buildings, VELUX
A shared agenda for change
As part of the programme, VELUX will engage with the global architecture community around key questions facing cities and society, including:
-
How can we rethink buildings for people and planet?
-
How do we renovate smarter and design healthier spaces?
-
How do we scale what works, and turn ideas into action through collaboration, culture and real-world projects?
