Opening of Nature Østbirk

On Tuesday, 7 May, an outdoor recreational park, developed with respect for the natural environment, opened in Denmark in the area surrounding VELUX Campus Østbirk.

Nature Østbirk is an attraction celebrating biodiversity and it aims to bring people closer to nature. It is located in a 70,000 m2 forest owned for the last 30 years by the VELUX Group and surrounded by a beautiful natural area called Søhøjland, the highest landscape in Denmark.

Nature Østbirk is funded by the Employee Foundation of the VKR Group and is open to residents of Østbirk, the local school and kindergarten, the general public and of course VELUX employees.

Nature Østbirk contains pathways, a sundial, towers for bird and nature watching, plus shelters for picnics, which are made out of local Douglas pine wood.

“We hope that both the general public as well as VELUX employees will use the area to meet and connect with nature, which is important for people’s well-being. It is a multi-functional area catering for a range of outdoor recreational needs to make it easy for people of all ages to exercise and also relax.”
