Bringing nature to the heart of LKR Innovation House

LKR Innovation House Landscape Update Thumbnail

Significant progress is being made in the landscaping surrounding LKR Innovation House. Currently, there is a surge of activity as trees are being planted, forest parking and courtyards are being finalised and the entrance area is taking shape.

Bringing nature close to the building has been an integral part of the LKR Innovation House project and with the first trees now planted, the vision is beginning to materialise. In this project, each tree was carefully selected to reflect the local species found in Søhøjlandet, an area between Silkeborg and Horsens. This approach ensures that the landscape remains in harmony with the natural environment. All trees will be planted in the coming weeks to ensure they establish roots before winter.

"It is so inspiring to see our vision come to life as the trees are now being planted. This marks a significant step towards creating a workspace that not only promotes collaboration and productivity but also enhances well-being by connecting us with nature," says Esben Haubjerg, Program Manager LKR Innovation House

Nature is not only surrounding LKR Innovation House on the outside. With the two open court yards, nature is present at the very center of the building. Covering a total of 1300 sqm, these courtyards will allow employees to spend more time outdoors during the workday, providing spaces for meetings, short walks and outdoor lunches.

Forest parking and a carefully designed entrance area are integral components of the landscape project. The forest parking area will provide a unique experience, allowing employees to take a short walk through the forest to and from work. Closer to the building, you find additional parking areas and “Himmelskiven”- a pond reflecting the light and the sky, representing what we do in VELUX. The entrance will be an area that welcomes all employees and visitors when they arrive to LKR Innovation House.

Connection to WWF

WWF Denmark donated 15 of the trees planted at LKR Innovation house in connection with the Plant a Tree initiative from October 2024. Plant a tree is a joint initiative with WWF, focusing on nature and climate education for children in both Denmark and Uganda. As a part of the project, schoolchildren in Denmark planted 1.200 native trees and at the Ugandan schools there will be planted 12.000 trees during spring 2025.
