Living Places Copenhagen Grand Opening

On Friday, 14 April, the first prototype of Living Places, built by VELUX with our partners EFFEKT, Artelia and Enemærke & Petersen opened to invited guests and media in Copenhagen’s Railway District (‘Jernbanebyen’).

Lars Petersson, CEO and Tina Mayn, EVP Products, VELUX were joined by the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, Sophie Hæstorp Andersen and Mayor of Technology and Environment, Line Barfoed to cut the ribbon and officially open Living Places Copenhagen.

What is Living Places?

As a pioneer target in the VELUX sustainability strategy 2030, the Living Places concept was ideated and developed by VELUX in partnership with EFFEKT architects and Artelia engineers to rethink how we build today and challenge the building industry to create solutions that benefit both people and the planet.

Living Places Copenhagen, the first prototype located in Copenhagen’s Railway District (‘Jernbanebyen’), is an experimental living environment that has been third party certified to have a 3 times lower CO2 footprint than an average Danish single-family house and a first-class indoor climate.

As an official partner of the UNESCO-UIA World Capital of Architecture and SDG Pavilion, the exhibition consists of seven prototypes – five open pavilions and two finished homes in full scale, which will host a full program of events and activities throughout the year.
