LKR Innovation House: Move-In Day!

DSCF2724
Today marks a major milestone for the VELUX Group as the first employees are moving into the newly transformed LKR Innovation House in Østbirk, Denmark.

Originally envisioned by Lars Kann-Rasmussen as an “experiment in wood,” this 1995 timber warehouse has now been reimagined into a 14,000 m² state-of-the-art innovation hub. Once a 9,500 m² warehouse, it now brings together around 500 colleagues from across VELUX – connecting teams in design, R&D, testing, implementation, and supportive functions under one roof.

The LKR Innovation House represents our longstanding commitment to experimentation, innovation, sustainability, and creating healthier buildings for people and planet.

Designed around flexibility, collaboration, and well-being, the building features a mix of shared seating zones, creative labs, testing workshops, and over 400 VELUX roof windows that bring daylight and fresh air deep into the space. Every element—from reused furniture to green courtyards—is part of a holistic vision for healthier, more sustainable workplaces.

As the new home of innovation at VELUX, the LKR Innovation House represents more than just a building.

It’s a place to experiment and help shape the buildings of the future — and a powerful symbol of how we continue to build for life.

Stay tuned for the official grand opening in May.
