Transforming Sunderland with Sustainable Homes
As part of the Riverside Sunderland masterplan, VELUX and igloo Regeneration will build around 50 new homes, a mix of townhouses, maisonettes, and apartments, on a brownfield site near City Hall. The development will house approximately 120 residents and is scheduled to start in 2026, with completion expected in 2027.
This project is part of Sunderland City Council’s vision to create a dynamic, healthy, and vibrant city, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2040.
Why This Partnership Matters
The Riverside Sunderland regeneration includes:
- 1,000 new homes
- 1 million sq ft of employment space
- A new riverside park and cultural facilities
VELUX and igloo’s collaboration ensures that sustainability and wellbeing are at the heart of this transformation.
“This is about more than building houses - it’s about reimagining how we live, creating spaces that connect people to nature and raise the bar for quality.”
- Insi Khushnood, Development Director, igloo Regeneration
